Brierleys at County Hall has been recognised for its healthier eating choices.
Brierleys restaurant at County Hall has achieved a silver Healthier Choices for a Healthier You award.
The award recognises those North Yorkshire businesses that are providing their customers with healthier eating choices.
The award is issued by our trading standards healthier choices team and funded by North Yorkshire Public Health. The aim of the healthier choices scheme is to reduce the levels of saturated fat, sugar and salt provided by retailers, takeaways and manufacturers of food, in order to improve the healthiness of the foods on offer and is part of the county council’s commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of people in North Yorkshire.
The scheme is points-based with participants being assessed against a range of criteria in order to achieve a gold, silver or bronze award. Healthier choices recognition includes things such as the offering of smaller portions, using low fat ingredients, employing healthier cooking methods such as baking as opposed to frying or the promotion of water over drinks high in sugar.
Jackie Willerton, general manager of Caterservice Limited that operate Brierleys said, “We are pleased to have been awarded the silver Healthier Choices for a Healthier You Award and see this as a good platform to implement any further changes which would help us to take steps towards achieving the gold award. Achievement is based on both menus and practices so if you have a healthy menu favourite that you think may work please pass on your suggestions to firstname.lastname@example.org or complete a comment card in the restaurant.”
